A large US based electric utility awarded Dawson and Associates a contract to design and build a “common” lubrication oil console to simultaneously support a 56 MW electrical generator and two SSS high speed clutches. The clutches couple two Pratt and Whitney FT4C-3F gas turbines to either end of the generator (TwinPac configuration). The existing generator lube oil console and two SSS clutch lube oil consoles were deemed legacy equipment and are replaced by this single new purpose built “common” lube oil console to support all three pieces of equipment. This new “common” lube oil console entered service in the first quarter 2016 and has been operating continuously since.
